Nolan Beddiaf and Marine Lefeuvre, winners again at the XIV Pamplona - Puente La Reina Skating Marathon 2023

The French skaters of the EOSkate World Team Nolan Beddiaf and Marine Lefeuvre have won the finish line in Puente La Reina of the XIV Marathon that joins Pamplona with the aforementioned town. A marathon of great interest for runners as it is one of the few that starts in one town and finishes in another instead of being held in a closed circuit.

Once again Nolan Beddiaf and his teammate Martin Ferrie dominated the race, breaking away on the climb to Cizur Menor and maintaining and increasing their advantage throughout the rest of the race. The two riders rode 35 kilometers together, relieving each other every minute until the finish line, suffering an enormous wear and tear due to the headwind that prevented them from reaching the second of their objectives, to get closer to the 60 minutes of race time. Beddiaf stopped the clock in 1h 05' 30" to the applause of the public present on the finishing straight. He arrived hand in hand with his teammate Ferrie but his skate crossed the finish line first.

A few minutes later, Colombian skater Juan David Piedrahita took third place by winning the sprint over a small group of riders, the only ones able to keep up with the French.

To know the name of the winner would have to wait until the hour and 14 minutes of race. At that moment, Marine Lefeuvre and Maite Ancín, from Navarre, arrived together with several other skaters, who had put the French skater under a tight marking, knowing that this was going to be the female victory. The EOSkate skater had been escorted by her teammates until the aforementioned climb to Cizur, when her strong pace broke the peloton into several groups.

In the decisive sprint after 42 kilometers Lefeuvre won by a few tenths to Ancín, who came second. The third position was for the A.D. San Juan runner Luisa Ayala, a first year senior runner who has made an excellent race.

On this occasion the usual challenge at the finish line after the marathon has had to be suspended: the rain that had respected the marathoners has begun to fall on Puente La Reina a quarter of an hour before the challenge, and the organization has decided for the safety of the participants that the sprint between the champion of Spain Roller-Ski, Irati Cuadrado, and the recently proclaimed runner-up of the world speed, Daniel Milagros, who had just finished the marathon on skates, would not take place. It remains pending therefore for what will be the XV edition of the P2P Skate Race next year.

Nolan Beddiaf and Marine Lefeuvre double in XIII P2P

The French skaters of the EOSkate World Team Nolan Beddiaf and Marine Lefeuvre have won the second stage of the P2P 2022, the mythical marathon Pamplona - Puente La Reina stopping the clock in 1 hour 3 minutes and 50 seconds and 1 hour, 9 minutes and 40 seconds respectively.
Both had also won Saturday's stage, the half marathon Zubiri - Pamplona, making them the winners of the general classification.

The race started at ten o'clock in the morning from Taconera street in Pamplona with an excellent weather for skating: dry ground, 15 degrees and sun and clouds. On the climb to Cizur the EOSkate World Team skaters tightened the race stretching the group and managing to fragment it, so that only ten skaters were able to keep up with them. They remained in a second intermediate group of 30 skaters, including the podium of Saturday: Marine Lefeuvre, Maite Ancin and Nathalia Bermudez. After the first third of the race, the good breakaway took place: Nolan Beddiaf and his teammate Martin Ferrié, second in the first stage, took meters and
seconds of advantage over their pursuers, an advantage that they would not lose until the finish of Puente La Reina - Gares. For several kilometers they were accompanied by Carlos Tarazona, who however would lose the leading duo in the demanding climb of Ciriza. The second half of the race was ridden alone by Ferrié and Beddiaf, with the former winning in Puente La Reina, raising his arms with his teammate.
Behind Lefeuvre and Ancín remained in the company of about 20 skaters, climbing with them the Orendáin pass and arriving as a group at the sprint finish in Puente La Reina. Third in the men's category was Carlos Tarazona and in the women's category, Nathalia Bermúdez.

The morning was capped off perfectly with the 100-meter sprint challenge between 16-year-old motocross rider Aitana Peña, the Euskadi champion, and sprinter Luisa González. To match the challenge Aitana zigzagged between four cones and jumped a narrow ramp while Luisa sprinted on smooth terrain. By just a few hundredths of a second Aitana Peña has won the challenge of the P2P 2022, which will take us all to the fourteenth edition next year.

Nolan Beddiaf and Aura Quintana win the overall P2P 2021

The French skater of the EOSkate World Team Nolan Beddiaf and the Colombian rider of El Pilar Marianistas de Vitoria Aura Quintana have been proclaimed absolute winners of both the stage between Pamplona and Puente La Reina and of the general classification of the P2P 2021. By adding their victories to those of Saturday's race between Zubiri and Pamplona, both have demonstrated their dominance in the toughest marathon in the world.

However, the victory was not easy for them: Nolan Beddiaf escaped up Ciriza, in the middle of the race, but the Basque rider Rafael Heredia and the Frenchman Hugo Gerard managed to reach him forming a trio at the head of the race. Meanwhile, in the third peloton of the race, the women's podium of the first stage was again up for grabs: Aura Quintana was accompanied by the Navarrese Maite Ancín and the French rider Marine Lefeuvre in a group with 4 other skaters, and together they would reach the top of the Alto de Orendáin, just six kilometres from the finish line. Lefeuvre was left behind shortly before reaching the top of the mountain and the women's race was decided in a thrilling sprint between Quintana, the winner, and Ancín, the runner-up.

Ahead, Nolan Beddiaf made the final push 500 metres before the summit of Orendáin, as did the women. Once he had escaped with barely 200 metres to go, neither Rafael Heredia nor Hugo Gerard were able to catch him on the descent and the flat before the finishing straight. Heredia completed a great race, taking second place and Hugo Gerard came in third, twenty seconds behind.

Nolan Beddiaf thus revalidates his title as champion of the 2019 event, as there was no P2P in 2020. Aura Quintana succeeds Maite Ancín in the women's race.

The day was completed with this year's challenge on the finishing straight in Puente La Reina: a 110-metre relay duel between the athletes Nerea Bermejo and Íñigo Pérez against the skaters Ruth Arza and Jonathan Galar. And against all odds, the athletes prevailed over the skaters: the slight uphill slope favoured Nerea Bermejo in the first relay, who came out ahead of Ruth Arza. While the athlete Íñigo Pérez took the baton from Nerea, Jonathan was forced to wait for Ruth to touch him in order to be able to take his first stride. In spite of his efforts, the 55 second metres were for Íñigo, so that in 11 seconds the team of athletes crossed the finish line and in 13 seconds the skaters did so. A perfect culmination to a complete weekend of skating.

Nolan Beddiaf and Aura Quintana win the Zubiri-Pamplona 2021

French skater Nolan Beddiaf, from the EOSkate World Team, and Colombian rider Aura Quintana from El Pilar Marianistas de Vitoria won the first stage of the P2P 2021 in a fast and exciting race, decided in the last kilometres.

Despite the rain that fell during the morning, the course was dry at the start in the town of Zubiri, and throughout the entire route. This favoured a high pace right from the start. In the first kilometres, the runners from El Pilar Marianistas set the pace of the race, trying to avoid a breakaway that arrived after the fifth kilometre. The overall winner of the last edition, Nolan Beddiaf and his teammate Martin Ferrie tested the strength of a peloton formed by about fifty skaters at the head of the race, including a good group of skaters among which were the favourites.

The race became tense at the flying goal of Zabaldica, at kilometre 12, with a sprint that Patxi Peula won, making it clear that he was strong enough for the rest of the race. The women's flying goal was won by Colombian Aura Quintana in a tight sprint with Maite Ancín.

Despite several breakaway attempts, the group reached the town of Huarte at kilometre 15 of the race. In the main street of the town, after a 90-degree right turn, Nolan Beddiaf made the attack that would ultimately prove to be definitive. From there to the finish line, the French rider rode alone, trying to avoid the peloton on the final slope of Curtidores, already in Pamplona. Beddiaf won the Zubiri - Pamplona with a time of 28'50". The second and third places were decided in a sprint a few seconds later, with the Basque Patxi Peula second and the winner's team-mate, Martin Ferrie, third.

A minute later, Colombian Aura Quintana from El Pilar Marianistas arrived at the finish line. She won the women's race ahead of Marine Lefeuvre from France, who could not keep up with her in the last kilometre, and Maite Ancín from Navarre, who arrived a few metres behind.

From there to the end of the race 550 skaters crossed the finish line in Bosquecillo street in Pamplona, with the end of the peloton arriving 60 minutes after the starting gun was fired in Zubiri.

Nolan Beddiaf and Maite Ancín revalidate their P2P victory

French EOSkate World Team skater NOLAN BEDDIAF and A.D. San Juan skater MAITE ANCÍN from Navarre won the second stage of the P2P between Pamplona and Puente La Reina, reediting both their victory in last year's race. Both also won the overall classification of the race, which this year included a first stage between Zubiri and Pamplona of 21.7 kilometres. Beddiaf was fifth yesterday and Maite Ancín, first.

The race was marked by the conditions of the road, which was wet almost all the way, but this did not prevent the skaters from running at a dizzying pace. In fact, Beddiaf reached the finish line in 1 hour and 6 minutes, only 3 minutes slower than the race record. His teammate Martin Ferrie and Patxi Peula from Vitoria were the protagonists of the first 15 kilometres of the race, as they escaped up to Cizur and skated alone for a good part of the race. Peula was the first to cross the flying finish line in Ororbia. At kilometre 20, a group of 13 skaters absorbed Peula while Ferrie insisted on the breakaway. The cause was known a few minutes later: his team-mate Nolan Beddiaf jumped on the road to Belascoáin together with another French rider, Jimmy Jouette, becoming from that moment on the top favourite to win the race. Climbing the Orendáin pass, Beddiaf increased the pace to stay alone at the head of the race and skated to the finish line at Puente La Reina in first place to take the win.

Beddiaf also won the Ciriza flying finish and the Premio de Montaña. The second classified in Puente La Reina was Patxi Peula and the third was the Colombian Álex Cuajavante in a sprint of five riders who entered the finish line 15 seconds behind Beddiaf.

Results of the first stage P2P 2019

The German skater of the Powerslide Matter World Team FELIX RIJHNEN and the Spanish skater of the Agrupación Deportiva San Juan MAITE ANCÍN have been the winners of the first stage of the P2P 2019, the Zubiri - Pamplona.

After 21.7 kilometres of running, both victories were decided by a sprint at the finish line on Avenida Carlos III in Pamplona. By just three thousandths of a second, the recently proclaimed European Marathon Champion Felix Rijhnen beat Patxi Peula from Vitoria in a finish 500 metres before, on the Cuesta del Labrit, by the Spanish skater. French runner Elton De Souza was third, barely a metre behind the first two.

The women's sprint took place just two minutes after the men and was launched at the same point as in the men's category, on the long climb of the last kilometre into the city of Pamplona at the foot of its centenary walls. On the last left turn just 30 metres before the finish line, a slip by the Colombian Aura Quintana prevented her from taking the final sprint from the Navarrese Maite Ancín, who won ahead of Quintana and the European Marathon champion, her team-mate Maialen Oñate.

The race was vibrant, with a peloton of 30 skaters ahead in which Frenchman Timothy Loubineaud and Felix Rijhnen, teammates, alternated breakaway attempts that were neutralised by the big group. At the flying finish in Zabaldica, first place went to Patxi Peula in a very tight intermediate sprint. The victory in the women's category went to Maite Ancín.

The second peloton of the race included all the favourites for the win, skidding approximately one kilometre behind the first race group. Ahead the peloton was given a few kilometres of respite as it crossed Huarte and Villava, a point that French rider Thibaut Fauconnet took advantage of to try to get a breakaway that would frustrate the final sprint. This was not the case despite the efforts of Indian rider Amitesh Mishra two kilometres from the finish line. Finally in the last kilometre the sprint was launched and the photo finish saw Rijhnen win ahead of Peula and De Souza.

The group of skaters reached the Cuesta del Labrit in a compact group of twenty, where Maite Ancín set a sustained pace until the finish line, which earned her the victory.

Frenchman Nolan Beddiaf and Maite Ancín from Navarre, winners of the P2P 2018

Frenchman Nolan Beddiaf and Navarre's Maite Ancín winners of the 2018 P2P in an exciting sprint contested with their supporters.

Nolan Beddiaf has been the winner of the X edition of the Pamplona - Puente Skate Marathon held today Sunday 9th with a time of 1h 08 m 51s with an average of 36'764 km/h. The Frenchman of the EOSkate World Team, several times world champion and winner of the P2P in 2010 in a spectacular race very disputed from the start with a group of 10 riders in the lead. Second to cross the finish line was his compatriot, winner in 2017 and also world champion Ewen Fernandez of Rollerblade World Team. The third classified was the Valencian David Morell, also international of the In-Gravity International Team.

A very close finish has been the one that has opened the women's podium. The Navarre Maite Ancín of the A.D. San Juan-Donibane KE, international medalist has crossed the finish line in a spectacular sprint crossing the finish line in a time of 1h 17m 6s 060 hundredths. The Argentinean and world champion, Rocío Berbel, last year's record winner, came in shortly after in a time of 1h 17m 6s 603 hundredths. Ancín achieved the first place in the 2015 marathon with 1h 14 minutes 30 seconds. Third place went to Maialen Oñate, also from Navarre, in a time of 1h 21m 10s.

The strong storms that fell during the early morning did not prevent more than 400 skaters, both federated and popular, to go out, although the pace of the race was very different due to the circumstances and conditions that also made it very difficult to beat the record in this edition, which is in 1:03:25 in the men's category and 01:12:27 in the women's category. It is the first time in these ten editions in which the weather has not favored the runners.

This year there has been an important novelty with respect to the first peloton of the women's category who, with 2 km to go to the finish line, have run a separate lane from the men's, coming together again in the last 800 meters, so that they could compete in the final sprint in a cleaner way.

The first to cross the Ororbia finish line was Juan Cruz Araldi from Argentina and Maite Ancín from Navarre. The Ciriza flying goal was for the Vitoriano Aitor Vacas and for the Argentinean Rocío Berbel. The mountaintop in Orendáin was won by the second classified Ewen Fernández and in the women's category by Maite Ancín. The prize for the first Navarrese was won by Dani Muro, one of the first promoters of this P2P, a prize that he also shares with Maite Ancín.

This edition we have been able to enjoy a screen at the finish line where we have been able to watch live the development of the race. Four cameras have collected images at various points of the race while the national coach, Garikoitz Lerga and Javier Saralegui of Onda Cero commented from the streaming the development of the race.
